Pilates Classes Near Me

Reformer Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates who worked as a circus performer, boxer, and self-defence instructor. He used his body mechanics and exercise knowledge to create the Reformer machine, which he initially called the “Universal Reformer”.

Reformer Pilates is popular among athletes, dancers, and celebrities because of its ability to improve core strength, flexibility, and posture. Some famous Reformer Pilates enthusiasts include Jennifer Aniston, Madonna, and LeBron James. Additionally, Reformer Pilates has been shown to be an effective form of rehabilitation for individuals recovering from injuries or surgeries, as it is low-impact and can be adapted to suit individual needs.

Experience the Benefits of Pilates: Transform Your Body and Mind

Joseph Pilates originally designed reformer apparatus to provide bed-bound hospital patients with a safe and supportive way of doing physiotherapy exercises. He went on to design the reformer machine to assist everyone, enabling them to perform carefully choreographed movements as part of a balanced, full body workout. And it works! The reformer bed is made up of a system of springs, ropes, pulleys and a carriage that helps you to find space and length in the body while working against the tension of the springs.

The benefits of Reformer Pilates are seemingly endless. It has been shown to improve your flexibility, strength, mental health and much more. Thanks to the internal pressure from the springs of the machine, your muscles are forced to work much harder, allowing you to target multiple areas simultaneously whilst also challenging your body to push itself further.

Pilates for Beginners: Join a Top-Rated Class Near You and Learn the Fundamentals

If you’re new to the wondrous world of Pilates, you may be wondering which class would be best suited for you. As a beginner to Reformer Pilates, the specially designed Reformer Pilates apparatus may appear a bit technical at first, but with the support and guidance that we can provide you with, Reformer Pilates works for anyone at any level of fitness. Throughout every class our instructors adjust the exercises and offer regressions or progressions to make the workout easier or harder to suit your specific ability and requirements.

At Chilli Pilates, we celebrate the fact that we have no maximum age limit. If you have a good range of mobility and are able to get up and down from the ground without assistance, the classes can be adjusted to accommodate you. However, you must be 18 years old to attend classes with us unaccompanied. If you are 16-17 years old you are still able to attend and join the fun but you must be accompanied by an adult.

Fitness doesn’t have to break the bank and so finding an affordable Pilates class near you is not an impossible task. We offer group classes which are great for socialising with like-minded individuals on a similar journey to you; you can help each other stay motivated as well as guaranteeing an improved fitness when you fully commit with us. The size of the group classes does vary depending which studio you choose to attend, but the maximum class capacity will range from 10-13 attendees so that our instructors can ensure everyone can benefit fully from their expert advice.

If you’re looking for a more personal experience we also offer private Pilates classes which will give you the opportunity to maximise your workout in a 1:1 environment. This allows the instructor to focus on you and can be a great way to begin your Pilates journey if group classes feel a bit nerve-wracking and you want to build up some basic technique first.

Finally, to offer our fitness enthusiasts a more flexible option, you can also sign up to one of our online mat Pilates sessions via our handy app. This is ideal for the days that our members are having a busy day but still want to prioritise their fitness journey. It essentially allows you to get fit from home with a virtual Pilates class near you!

Injury Prevention, Rehabilitation and Stress Relief: How Pilates Can Help

Reformer Pilates is a full body, high intensity but low impact workout . If you unfortunately are suffering with an injury, this type of exercise will be ideal for you as it works by strengthening your muscles, and gently improving flexibility which allows you to rehabilitate the injured area. This will also aid in preventing future injuries due to the fact that Pilates works on the entire body. It looks at how the body is working together, and how the function or strength of a particular part of the body will influence the rest.

For injury prevention, this is essential as no single part of the body works alone. Muscle imbalances are a very common cause of injury. Pilates assists you in addressing these imbalances, restoring healthy function and getting your body working in harmony with itself.

Amongst the vast array of benefits, Pilates provides noticeable results in stress relief and improving your mental health. Joseph Pilates created the concept of Reformer Pilates with key principles in mind that were based on whole-body health, whole-body commitment and breath. When you’re anxious or stressed you tend to have shorter, quicker and more shallow breaths. Reformer Pilates requires you to do the polar opposite which can help you to centre yourself. The breathing techniques can result in relaxation due to the lowering of your heart rate and blood pressure.

As well as this, Reformer Pilates can feel like a mental workout all in itself with the level of concentration required. As you solely focus on the task in front of you, you’re able to clear your mind of any and all other distractions that could be causing anxiety or increasing your stress levels.

Discover why Pilates is right for you

Pilates really is a great option for everyone. It’s an incredibly efficient method of weight loss, helping you to achieve your goals and feel good doing it. If you’re a senior, Pilates is a gentle way to improve mobility and balance at a pace and technique level that suits you. If you’re going through a pregnancy, Pilates can help you to prepare and strengthen your body to ensure you’re in the best condition for labour and delivery. For athletes, Pilates can be a very beneficial way to supplement or boost your training, keeping you in your best possible shape. If you work in an office, Pilates is an effective way of repairing the damage of poor posture from sitting at a desk all day. Perfect exercise for everyone!

But why take our word for it? Discover for yourself by booking one of our fun and rewarding classes in a studio near you!

Book on the move

With the Chilli Pilates App you can conveniently book and cancel classes at anytime with just a few quick taps on your smart phone.

It is quick and easy to use, giving you complete control over your class schedule and Chilli Pilates account.

When it comes to pricing, Reformer Pilates classes are generally more expensive than mat classes, but for good reason! The personalised attention and tailored instruction you receive from your instructor are worth the investment.

Since these classes require smaller class sizes and more individualised attention, the cost per hour can range from £25-£35 for online classes and up to £35 per hour for studio-based classes. At Chilli Pilates we offer an incredible £10 discounted trial class, as well as extensive class pricing package options, to ensure that you find a package that suits both your exercise schedule and your budget.

If you’re new to Reformer Pilates, it’s recommended to book classes in blocks so that you can learn how to use the machines and target specific muscle groups. Studio-based Reformer classes are usually priced at the higher end of the spectrum as you get one on one instructor training and in-person classes to help in the early stages of using a reformer, but buying a class pass can give you more flexibility and competitive pricing. Trust us, the investment is worth it for the amazing results you’ll see!

Use the studio finder above to find a Pilates studio near you. All of our Pilates studios offer reformer classes and personal training instructors to ensure that you get the most out of your Pilates exercises. Each Chilli Pilates studio is fully equipped with state-of-the-art reformer equipment. Our reformer machines can be utilised both in group classes and in personal training sessions where you can exercise at your own pace.

Looking for a place to practice Reformer Pilates? Unlike mat classes, Reformer Pilates requires the use of a machine. But don’t worry, if you have a reformer at home, you can join online Zoom-based reformer classes or watch on-demand videos that take you through the exercises.

Most Reformer Pilates classes take place in specialised Pilates studios, while some gyms or leisure centres may offer them as well, but it’s not as common. Whether you prefer to work out at home or in a studio, there’s a Reformer Pilates option for you. Let’s get started on your fitness journey.

The Reformer machine is a truly amazing piece of exercise equipment that can help you achieve your fitness goals in no time. With its vast range of exercise options, you can do resistance-based exercises in almost any position: standing, seated, prone, or supine.

What’s more, the Reformer allows for modifications in resistance and exercise difficulty, so you can get the level of support or challenge you need for your body, making it perfect for injury rehabilitation or general body conditioning. This piece of equipment helps you maintain good posture and exercise specific muscle groups.

Don’t worry if you’re new to Reformer Pilates! We’ll teach you how to use it and you’ll quickly recognise many of the exercises from mat work Pilates. You’ll also notice how the Reformer works your body differently, challenging your core strength and dynamic stability in ways you never thought possible. Get ready to feel the burn and enjoy the amazing benefits of the Reformer with us!

Curious about the duration and dress code for Pilates Reformer classes? An in-person Reformer workout session can usually last between 40-60 minutes, but an online Zoom workout session and on-demand video class may be shorter, ranging from 15-45 minutes. While in-person classes are longer, virtual options are more convenient if you’re short on time.

However, in-person classes offer you the opportunity to learn from an in-person instructor. In-person classes give beginners the confidence to master their reformers quicker and train better. Beginners are encouraged to train on their reformers first in class, then turn to at-home online sessions, so as to avoid injury and benefit the most from their teachers.

When it comes to a reformer dressing code, Reformer classes are more structured and intense than mat classes, so suitable gym wear is a better option. Stretch tops with uncovered arms and stretch pants are great choices.

Toe socks or similar footwear are recommended, as they keep your feet warm and allow for a better stretch. They’re also ideal for studio or gym floors as they have grippy soles and are more hygienic.

We hope this information helps you feel more prepared and excited for your next Reformer Pilates class!
